Lightning strikes are on the rise which could mean big trouble in the future if you are not covered. Electronic devices are especially susceptible to damage during a lighting strike. A common occurrence during an aggressive strike is for the surge to enter your home through pipes or wires from nearby utility poles. It is not as powerful as a direct hit, but is more common and brings with it its own set of issues. Your home or business most vulnerable port of entry is its electrical panel. Be sure to equip your building with a ‘whole house surge protection device’. It will halt the surge in its tracks. If the surge does not stop at the electrical panel, it has the ability to travel over wire surfaces in your home causing major damages such as fires. It is important to be aware of the threat that inclement weather poses and to prepare for any situation.
